The Children’s Foreign Language Centre ZNANIE is one of the biggest out-of-school establishments in Sofia, Bulgaria, providing multi-level courses in English and German as Foreign Languages to 6 -16 years-old children. We use textbooks and teaching materials of Longman Publishing Group, as well as our own materials.
The Centre is established in 1992; now more than 350 children are included in 32 groups, and 16 specially trained EFL teachers work in the Centre. Since 1997 we provide special English and Computer courses for physically disabled children from the National Cerebral Palsy Centre in Sofia.
Our basic aim is to teach the children to communicate and use the foreign languages in the everyday life, even while watching TV, or working with the computer.
For 2001/2002 school year Znanie CFLS offers a special audiovisual course, and access to multimedia materials and Internet resources for all its students.
ZNANIE CFLS provides also a special spoken language course and preparation for the world – wide recognized EFL exams (Pitman ESOL).
The communicative approach is largely used to improve students’ language skills and build their confidence in using the foreign language and their cultural awareness.
